A Little About Katy & DDVS

Welcome to the Delightful Diva Voice Studio. My goal as a voice instructor is to provide outstanding vocal training to students ages 10 and up, while teaching the fundamentals of music and developing each individual's musicianship within a creative and motivating atmosphere.

Students at DDVS learn classically-based vocal technique, focusing on breathing, resonance, diction and overall healthy singing habits. I specialize in classical, operatic and musical theatre repertoire, but am not afraid to explore other genres, as long as they promote healthy singing habits. All genres of music can benefit from voice training!

Since moving to Chicago in 2012, Ms. Wells has been engaged by the Grant Park Summer Festival Chorus, the St. Charles Singers, the Canterbury Singers, and the Elgin Master Chorale. She is a member of the Chicago NATS Chapter, current Vice President of Membership for the NICNATS board, former board member of the VSNATS Chapter in Phoenix, AZ, and former President of the University of Arizona SNATS Chapter. Katy is honored to be card toting member of the American Guild of Musical Artists. Before relocating to Illinois, she was an adjunct professor at Estrella Mountain Community College in Goodyear, AZ. She is completing a DMA in Voice Performance through the University of Arizona. To see a more detailed bio, please visit the Bio Page. Thanks for visiting the site.

Why won't you teach my 5 year old voice lessons???

The human voice is unique from all other instruments, in that it is part of our bodies, developing with us as we grow and physically mature. I frequently receive calls from parents seeking private voice lessons for young children hoping to encourage their musical development. While not every voice is physically ready for the demands that private voice lessons require, I now offer BEGINNING PIANO LESSONS as a great alternative for young students ages 5-9. The benefits of learning to read music, identify notes, develop motor skills and a musical "ear" is a perfect training ground for the young singer. Call today to learn more.
